Allure of the Seas Review: The Cruise That Changed the Way we Travel.
Some cruises are vacations.
Others completely change the way you see travel.
For me, Allure of the Seas was that cruise.
This was my first true mega-ship experience and only my second cruise ever, and looking back now, I can honestly say it was the voyage that made me fall in love with cruising.
In fact, writing this review still makes me emotional.
Not just because of the ship itself, but because of what the experience represented. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel quite a bit throughout my life thanks to an incredibly supportive family, especially my mother and her side of the family, who always made sure I experienced far more than our resources probably should have allowed. And somehow, out of all those trips, this sailing aboard Allure became one of the most memorable vacations of my life.
It opened my eyes to an entirely different way of traveling.
The idea that you could unpack once, wake up in multiple destinations, have endless entertainment, excellent food, ocean views everywhere, and never really worry about anything except enjoying yourself—it completely changed my perspective on vacations.
And honestly, very few travel experiences compare to that feeling.

Food Review – 8.5/10
Food aboard Allure of the Seas was consistently enjoyable throughout the cruise, and one of the ship’s biggest strengths is simply the amount of variety available.
The specialty restaurants were a highlight for us. 150 Central Park delivered a truly unique dining experience and remains one of the most memorable meals I’ve had at sea. The atmosphere alone makes it feel special, but the food and presentation elevated it even further.
Chops Grille was another standout, serving excellent steaks and delivering exactly the type of upscale steakhouse experience you would hope for onboard a ship of this caliber.
We also spent time at Vintages, which ended up being one of our favorite spots onboard. The tapas there were excellent, and the relaxed atmosphere made it a fantastic place to unwind in the evenings.
The Main Dining Room was very solid overall. Some dishes stood out more than others, but we consistently enjoyed our meals there. Beyond that, the sheer number of complimentary venues across the ship means there is almost always something available no matter what mood you’re in.
There were only a few dishes I distinctly remember disliking, including the escargot, baked Alaska, rack of lamb at Giovanni’s Table, and one dessert sampler. But considering how much food we tried throughout the cruise, that’s a very small list.

Cabin Review – 8/10
Our cabin aboard Allure was surprisingly comfortable considering there were three of us sharing the room.
Would it have been better with only two people? Of course. But overall, we made it work without much issue, and the room itself felt thoughtfully designed for cruise travel.
Storage was adequate, the layout was functional, and worked well for us.
One thing that stood out immediately was how comfortable and efficient cruise cabins can actually be when designed well. At that point in my cruising experience, it genuinely impressed me.

Activities & Entertainment – 10/10
This is where Allure completely blew me away.
At the time, I had never seen anything remotely like it.
There is simply an absurd amount to do aboard this ship. Whether it’s the FlowRider, zip line, ice skating rink, rock climbing wall, parades, live music, game shows, shopping, comedy, or countless other scheduled activities, Allure constantly feels alive.
And the best part is that you really can shape the cruise into whatever type of vacation you want.
Want nonstop activities all day? You can do that.
Want a relaxing afternoon in Central Park? That exists too.
Want nightlife and entertainment until late at night? Also there.
You simply open the daily planner and choose your adventure.
That flexibility is one of the defining strengths of the Oasis Class.

Service – 9/10
Service aboard Allure was excellent throughout most of the voyage.
The crew overall felt energetic, proud of the ship, and genuinely engaged with passengers. That positive energy becomes infectious onboard and contributes tremendously to the atmosphere of the cruise.
One thing I appreciated greatly is that despite reading many complaints online about aggressive upselling before the cruise, we personally encountered almost none of that onboard. Outside of one mild interaction at the spa, a simple “no thank you” was enough and nobody pressured us further.
Restaurant service was strong overall, bars were efficient, and public spaces were kept impressively clean despite the massive number of guests onboard.

Ship Design & Atmosphere – 10/10
This is something that is honestly difficult to explain until you experience it in person.
No amount of photos or YouTube videos truly prepares you for the scale of Allure of the Seas.
The ship is not just large—it feels like a floating city purposely designed to constantly surprise you.
Walking through Central Park for the first time genuinely felt surreal. Then you walk onto the Boardwalk and suddenly the atmosphere completely changes again.
The engineering behind these ships is honestly astonishing.
And despite carrying over 6,000 passengers, the ship somehow rarely feels as crowded as the numbers would suggest.

Crowds & Practical Considerations
That said, the ship is not perfect.
Embarkation day crowds were intense, especially during the first few hours onboard. That’s somewhat unavoidable when thousands of passengers suddenly enter the ship simultaneously, but it is still worth preparing for mentally.
Elevators could also become frustratingly crowded at times. Personally, I found the forward elevators significantly easier to use than the midship ones.
I would also strongly recommend this ship primarily for travelers who are reasonably mobile. We noticed several older passengers struggling with the amount of walking required onboard, especially during port days.
This is not a ship where you casually “pop back to the room” multiple times a day without thinking about it.
Planning your cabin location carefully matters.

Final Verdict: Is Allure of the Seas Worth It?
Without question.
Even years later, the Oasis Class still feels like one of the most impressive achievements in modern cruising.
Allure manages to deliver something very difficult to describe: a sense of wonder.
Everything about the ship feels larger-than-life, yet surprisingly approachable once you settle into the rhythm of the cruise. Between the endless activities, outstanding public spaces, strong dining options, and incredible overall atmosphere, it’s easy to understand why so many people become loyal Oasis Class fans after just one sailing.
For me personally, this cruise became much more than just another vacation.
It became the cruise that made me realize cruising itself was something special.
