MSC Seaside Review (2026): Is It Worth It? Honest Pros, Cons & Real Experience
MSC Seaside Review: Is It Worth It in 2026?
After sailing MSC Seaside in April-and comparing it to Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and Disney-this 2026 MSC Seaside review reflects what the experience actually feels like today, offering a fresh, firsthand look at what this ship is really like today. MSC Cruises continues to build some of the most visually stunning ships at sea, and Seaside is no exception. From the moment we stepped onboard, it was clear this ship delivers on design, atmosphere, and overall value. But as the cruise went on, it also became clear that while MSC Seaside can offer a very enjoyable vacation, the experience depends heavily on understanding exactly what you’re booking—and where the compromises are.
There is one thing MSC Cruises consistently gets right:
Their ships are absolutely beautiful.
And MSC Seaside is no exception.
From the massive multi-level atrium filled with lights and crystal staircases, to the wraparound outdoor promenades, to the open aft pool design, Seaside genuinely feels like one of the most visually impressive mainstream cruise ships at sea.
This was a cruise I had been looking forward to for quite some time. My mom and I booked it with both the drink package and internet included, (mom is unable to disconnect ) which honestly added a lot of value considering how aggressively MSC prices their cruises.
And that really becomes the key to understanding this ship:
You need to understand what MSC is.
This is not luxury cruising.
This is not Disney-level service.
This is not Celebrity-level consistency.
MSC instead delivers a beautiful, modern ship at a price that often feels almost impossible to beat.
And honestly?
For the price we paid, this still ended up being a very enjoyable vacation overall, and it delivered strong overall value.
Still, despite the inconsistencies, this cruise created another memorable getaway for my mom and me. Watching her fully enjoy the thermal spa during this sailing honestly became one of my favorite memories from the trip. Every decision I make, I make thinking of her, the spa was one that I am grateful I took.
Quick Verdict
Overall Score: 74/100
Best For:
- Budget-conscious cruisers
- Families
- Travelers wanting modern ships at low prices
- Spa lovers
- Caribbean short cruises
- Travelers who prioritize ship design over food
Not Ideal For:
- Food-focused cruisers
- Travelers expecting premium service consistency
- Guests wanting quiet, uncrowded pool decks
- Travelers sensitive to crowds
- People expecting luxury-level dining

Food Review – 6/10
Food ended up being one of the weaker aspects of this cruise.
The buffet, in particular, felt repetitive throughout the sailing. While there were options available, the variety didn’t change much from day to day, and execution was inconsistent. Pasta dishes, which used to be a highlight for me on MSC, were often overly creamy and not particularly memorable.
For example, breakfast had offerings that barely changed-eggs, sausages, pastries, and the occasional egg Benedict (not great tasting and dry). On some Royal ships I’ve seen even arepas, and even Carnival offers delicious breakfast chicken sandwiches. MSC could use more variety.
That said, the pizza was absolutely outstanding.
It was easily the most reliable food onboard and quickly became something we looked forward to every day. However, one cannot live on pizza alone, well, not unless you want to gain more than my usual gain of 5 lbs per cruise.
The Main Dining Room was slightly better, but still inconsistent. One night the NY steak would be dry and hard, and then the following night it would be juicy and succulent. That lack of consistency really defined the overall dining experience.
The food was never terrible—but outside of the pizza, very little truly stood out.

Cabin Review – 8/10
Our balcony cabin aboard Seaside was very comfortable overall.
The room was located forward on the starboard side, which isn’t usually my preferred location, but it worked well. The beds were comfortable, blackout blinds were excellent, and the balcony offered great views of the outdoor promenade areas.
The toilet had an issue where it would slowly overfill overnight, nearly reaching the point of spilling onto the floor. It wasn’t a major problem during our sailing, but it could become one if it were to overflow. Funny enough mom only figured this issue on the last day, I noticed it day one 👀.
Noise insulation was a bit inconsistent due to some noisy neighbors, but overall, no major complaints. Door slamming noises were normal during the day, and made naps a little on the hard side.
MSC does a solid job with good size balcony cabins, definitely much better than Norwegian.

Internet & Technology – 9/10
This was one area where MSC genuinely impressed me.
The internet worked very well throughout the cruise, and the MSC app was excellent. It made reservations easy and was also useful for communication onboard if you didn’t purchase an internet package.
For a budget-focused cruise line, MSC deserves real credit here.
My only real issue was the app use before the cruise, it was a disaster, and giving erroneous information that would send me into panic mode. This was also an issue on our MSC Divina cruises in the past. Putting that aside the onboard experience was excellent!

Pools, Spa & Outdoor Areas – 7/10
The biggest issue here is simple:
The main pool deck feels crowded. Very crowded.
If you want slightly decreased crowds, check out the aft pool, which can be considerably better on busy days (main issue for us? no jacuzzis near that pool).
There is also a noticeable lack of shade in many outdoor areas, which becomes especially important in the Caribbean. This is something that I also saw in MSC Divina, however in Seaside, it was much worse… Make sure you bring sunscreen and tons of it 🥵

However, this cruise introduced us to something that completely changed the experience:
The thermal spa package.
And honestly?
It was one of the best purchases we made.
The thermal area included:
- Thermal pools
- Jacuzzis
- Steam rooms
- Sauna
- Salt room
- Snow room
Compared to the chaos of the main pool decks, the spa felt peaceful and relaxing.
My mom absolutely loved it, and she spent a significant amount of time there throughout the cruise. She said to me that she believed she was the person who used the spa the most, that alone made that purchase 100% worth it. No regrets there 🥰
Meanwhile, the wraparound promenade on Deck 8 remains one of the best features of the ship. It offers a quieter space to relax, enjoy ocean views, and escape the crowds.

Ship Layout & Navigation
This isn’t something most reviews mention…
One of the more frustrating aspects of MSC Seaside is the ship’s layout—especially around the pool Lido deck.
On Deck 16, the forward elevators do not provide access to the main pool areas. Instead, they lead into specialty dining spaces, forcing you to go back and reroute using either the deck above, or midship or aft elevators.
Even knowing this ahead of time, we still got turned around on embarkation.
If your cabin is located forward, this becomes even more noticeable. You often have to go up and then back down just to reach certain areas.
It’s an unusual design choice—and not one I’m particularly fond of.

Activities & Entertainment – 6/10
Entertainment aboard Seaside was decent, but nothing particularly memorable.
My mom had seen most of the shows on a recent sailing and described them as “good, but not spectacular.” That’s probably the best way to summarize it. I never really see a full show, but the parts that I saw were basic, and not as well developed as performances in RCCL, Disney or NCL. That said, at this price point, that is kind of expected.
The “White Party” didn’t really feel like a party—it was more of a salsa lesson. It’s hard to get into a party atmosphere when the music keeps stopping every few seconds for instructions. In my view, it would work much better as an actual party with a consistent flow of music and a wider variety of songs that appeal to everyone.
The atrium does a great job acting as a central hub for events, and it’s easily one of the most visually impressive spaces onboard. It is well used for a lot of events, and I can see why they do this, it is great to distribute crowds across the levels.

Bars & Lounges – 8/10
MSC does a great job with bars and lounges.
There are plenty of options, service is fast, and wait times were rarely more than a few minutes. The servers/bartenders were kind, and attentive, we had no issues in this regard.
The Deck 8 outdoor lounge areas stood out the most for us—they were quieter and much more relaxing than the busier upper decks. Not to mention that it was close to the FWD elevators which we would often when leaving our cabin.
Ship Design & Atmosphere – 8/10
This is MSC’s biggest strength.
The ships are stunning.
The atrium aboard Seaside is absolutely breathtaking, and even after several years, the ship still feels modern and elegant.
MSC consistently builds some of the most visually impressive ships in the industry.

Service – 7/10
Service was mostly good—but inconsistent.
Our cabin steward was excellent and one of the highlights of the cruise. Among the best we had, she was from Honduras and mom became good friends with her.
Bar service was fast and efficient.
Dining room service, however, could be slow and inconsistent at times. Some days fantastic, others felt like we had a different untrained server (it was the same person).
When MSC service is good, it’s very good—but when it slips, you notice.

Pros and Cons
✅ Pros
- Beautiful, modern ship design
- Excellent value for the price
- Outstanding pizza
- Strong internet and mobile app
- Fantastic thermal spa experience
- Great outdoor promenade (Deck 8)
❌ Cons
- Food quality is inconsistent
- Buffet lacks variety
- Pool decks are crowded with limited shade
- Confusing ship layout (Deck 16 access)
- Entertainment is average
If you’re coming from Royal Caribbean, expect a step down in food, service, activities and entertainment- but a step up in price value.

Is MSC Seaside Right For YOU?
MSC Seaside is a strong pick if you want a beautiful ship, good value, a solid drink-and-internet package, and don’t mind some inconsistency in food and service.
I would reconsider if food quality, polished entertainment, quiet pool decks, or premium service are your top priorities.
If you’re coming from Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, or Disney, expect a step down in food, activities, and service consistency—but potentially a big step up in overall value.
Final Verdict: Is MSC Seaside Worth It?
Honestly?
Yes.
But only if you understand what you’re buying.
This is not a luxury cruise.
This is not premium cruising.
MSC Seaside is worth it in 2026 if you prioritize price over service, food and entertainment.
This is a modern, visually stunning ship offered at a very competitive price.
And for the price we paid—including drinks and internet—the value was hard to beat.
The food was inconsistent, and the crowds on the pool deck definitely impacted the experience.
But the spa completely changed the cruise for us.
Watching my mom enjoy that space every day became one of the highlights of the trip.
And ultimately, that’s what these cruises are about for me.
Not perfection.
But shared experiences.
Would I sail MSC Seaside again?
Yes—especially at the right price.
But next time?
The thermal spa package would be a must.
